Hi guys.
Has anyone else installed the newest skype? If you have, how is it working for you?

I find that for me, the voice quality is horrible, and it often breaks up altogether, so that I cannot hear a single word the other person is saying. This happens even when the other person has a cable connection like mine. Interestingly, this never happened with any of the beta versions of skype.

I have downgraded to the beta version .98, but no quality has returned. Do any of you have suggestions?

HI,
That's an interesting situation you're having. What operating system do you use? I have 1.0.0.29, which is the latest version and it works just fine on my Dell system running Window XP home edition with 1.4 GHz processor and 512 MB ram.

it might have nothing to do with skype but the band width at time of connection.

Hi guys. Sorry it has taken me over a month to respond to this original topic.
Anyway I am using windows XP professional on a machine with 640 MB of ram. The processor is a bit on the slow side (600 MHZ) but that did not stop skype from working well in the past.

I've heard of similar problems myself. where the quality has been down from the beta version so when they go to downgrade it doesn't do anything. I am personally really happy with skype for me. it works great! .. if I am uploading at the same time it's not always crash hot because unfortunately I don't get much bandwidth for that but that's about all .. I do hope you can get yours sorted as I am really happy with it and think it's the best telephony program I've used for the net. :)

Cheers! :)

I agree. Skype definitely rocks when it works correctly. And it takes verry little bandwidth. I have been in conference calls with people on 56 K modems and it has been just fine. I just hope they can figure something out that fixes the issues for me and other users
